About the desk

Strikepoint Editorial is an independent editorial desk that takes one question at a time and tries to answer it properly. This site is built around a single one: is IQ Option binary options?

It is a question with a confusing history behind it, which is why it keeps being asked. A product name that circulated widely years ago is still attached to the platform in old articles, old videos and old forum posts, while the contracts a person can actually open depend on the entity their account sits with and on the rules that apply where they are. So the honest answer is not a yes or a no. It is a distinction: what the label says, and what the contract does.

We are not IQ Option. Strikepoint Editorial is not affiliated with it, is not operated by it and does not speak for it. Nothing published here is an announcement from the operator, and no page on this site can see, open or act on anyone's account.

The editorial position

One idea runs through every page: names are marketing, mechanics are the product. A binary option is a contract shape — a yes/no outcome on one condition at a fixed expiry, with the return known before entry. A digital option is a different shape, because the trader also picks a strike and the potential return moves with it. Labels such as "fixed-time", "turbo" and "classic" are interface words whose meaning depends entirely on the platform using them. Regulators write their rules around product definitions, not around the words on a button.

That is the whole method. Wherever a label appears in these guides, the mechanics are described alongside it, and the reader is pointed at the contract terms rather than the name.

What this site deliberately does not publish

The restraint below is not an oversight or a gap waiting to be filled. It is the editorial position, and it is the reason the site can be read as a clarifier rather than as a sales page:

How the guides are researched

Each page is desk research, not an experiment. The material is the operator's own public pages and the public record of the relevant supervisory authority — the register entry, the published product-intervention measure, the platform's own descriptions of what it offers — read closely and organised into an evaluation framework: what is stated on the record, what follows from it, and what is simply not stated anywhere and therefore stays out.

Numbers follow the same rule. If a figure cannot be pointed at in a source, it does not appear. Where a number would help the reader, the qualitative version is written instead: the shape of the mechanism, the range, or the sentence explaining why the figure is not ours to publish.

What we cannot verify

Everything volatile — the product line-up, the terms, the entity behind a given account, the interface itself — should be re-checked on the operator's own pages before anyone acts on it. Read this site as an orientation layer, not as a record of live conditions.

Dates and revisions

Every page carries the date its details were last checked, and pages are revised when the thing they describe changes. Read the date as part of the content: if the screen in front of you does not match the description here, the screen is right, and we would like to hear about it.

Who writes this

Editorial responsibility sits with Perrin Halbrook, Options Products Editor, writing for Strikepoint Editorial. One editor writes and edits this site; there is no anonymous content pool behind it. The background is in options product documentation — contract specifications, expiry and settlement wording, and the gap between what a product is called and what its terms actually say — which is why this site is about reading a contract rather than about how to trade one.

Corrections

Corrections are welcome, and we would much rather hear about a mistake than leave it standing. Send the page address and the specific sentence you believe is wrong, with a link to the official page if you have one. Documented corrections are applied to the page and the check date is updated, so a fix is visible rather than silent. The desk reads [email protected].

How the site is funded

No partner programme is active on this site today, so there are currently no commercial links on it. That may change, and if it does the change will be disclosed rather than quietly switched on; the full explanation is on the disclosure page. Trading carries a risk of loss, and nothing here is investment advice.
